About Schoolfile

Schoolfile shows every state-funded school in England with its latest Ofsted inspection, exam results and admissions figures on one page, free. We started it because the public data is good but scattered across several government services, and because Ofsted's changes since 2024 have left many websites showing out-of-date or misread grades.

We are a small independent data publisher. We are not part of, or endorsed by, the Department for Education or Ofsted, and we do not take payment from schools to change how they appear. There is no advertising on the site at the moment. If we add it later, it will not affect what any page says.

How we keep it accurate

• We rebuild every page from the official files each month, the day after Ofsted publishes its data.
• Every page shows where its numbers come from and how current they are.
• We never turn report-card grades into old one-word grades, or the other way round. Ofsted says they cannot be compared.
• If you spot a mistake, tell us. See corrections.
